How much does a stairlift cost in Dublin?
The most useful starting figures currently published on O’Connor Carroll’s existing website are straight stairlifts from €1,700 excluding VAT and second-hand straight stairlifts from €1,200 excluding VAT. Curved lifts are priced after assessment. These are published starting figures checked on 13 October 2026, not a new fixed-price offer, a HomeGlide-specific price or a quotation for your home. The source pages carry older update dates, so confirm current pricing and inclusions with the team.
Sources: straight lift prices and second-hand prices.
Your written quote should show the full amount payable including VAT, the rail, fitting and selected options. Budget for the gross amount unless a funding decision has actually been approved.
Why a straight and curved quote differ
Straight: one rail follows a single unbroken flight. Length, seating options and a folding rail can change the specification.
Curved: bends, landings and parking positions need an individually planned rail. More complex geometry can add work even if the staircase has relatively few steps.
Reconditioned: the available unit’s condition, rail compatibility and included cover matter as well as its purchase price.
Rental: compare setup, recurring charges, minimum term and removal over the same period as ownership.
For model details, compare HomeGlide for straight stairs and Flow X for turning stairs. Neither model has one installed price that suits every house.
An itemised quote you can actually compare
Check that every proposal names the model and seat package, rail route, controls and optional features. Then identify supply, installation, electrical preparation, VAT, warranty and any excluded work. Ask for deposit requirements, payment stages and the quote’s validity date.
Compare totals, not just the bold headline. If one quote includes a powered swivel and another does not, price them on the same specification before deciding. If an existing lift needs removal, include that cost too.
Keep running costs separate: electricity, scheduled servicing, batteries and repairs outside cover are ownership expenses. Our running-cost guide includes a transparent electricity example, while the quote checklist helps record supplier differences.
Grants and VAT: separate questions
An Irish grant or VAT repayment may be relevant in some circumstances, but neither should be deducted from your budget as guaranteed funding. A local authority decides grant eligibility. Revenue sets the VAT repayment conditions.
Our separate guides explain the next steps and link to the official information. If you plan to apply for assistance, check the approval requirements before authorising work.
Get a price based on your home
Share your Dublin area and describe the stairs. We will discuss an assessment and the appropriate options. You do not need to know a model name, and it is fine to ask for the differences between buying new, reconditioned and renting.
