Stairlift stopped? Start with a support call
For an existing fault, call 01 456 8000. O’Connor Carroll’s published after-hours number is 087 257 9538; leave a voicemail for the engineer to return your call. Attendance and timing must be confirmed for the actual fault and location—an after-hours contact is not a guaranteed immediate visit.
Say whether someone is on the chair, whether upstairs access is lost, and whether there is a display code, beeping or an unusual movement. If someone is in immediate danger or needs urgent medical help, use emergency services rather than waiting for a stairlift callback.

Safe checks before an engineer attends
Follow your own model’s user instructions. From a safe position, note the warning, check whether an obvious loose item is obstructing the route, and confirm that normal user controls are in the positions described in the manual. Do not reach into the mechanism, dismantle covers or bridge a sensor.
Do not force the chair, move a rail section by hand without the specified procedure, or attempt to climb out of a stopped lift onto the staircase. Describe the situation to the support team and follow their guidance.
Our beeping guide helps you record useful symptoms; the power-cut guide explains the distinction between battery operation and charging.
Information that helps the repair call
Have these details ready if they are accessible without risk:
Equipment: make, model, installation date and original supplier.
Fault: what happened, when it started and whether it happens in one position.
Warning: exact displayed code or pattern of beeps.
Location: Eircode and whether the chair is at the top, bottom or between floors.
Cover: warranty or service-agreement details.
Confirm the call-out charge, diagnostic labour, parts approval and what happens if a return visit is needed. For equipment installed by another company, support depends on the model and parts availability. A useful diagnosis comes before a replacement recommendation.
Repair, servicing and warranty are different
A warranty may cover specified faults while excluding other costs. Servicing is planned maintenance. Check the paperwork before assuming that a visit is free, and ask the team to explain the proposed charge. After a repair, retain the record of work and any updated instructions.
