Your free home survey starts with a conversation
A free home survey helps establish which stairlift can fit your staircase and how it would work for you. You do not need a model number or a set of measurements to get started. Tell us your area, the staircase layout and the part of moving between floors you want to make easier.
You can enquire for a family member. Include them in the appointment where possible, because seat position, reach and transferring on and off the chair affect the recommendation. Photographs can help prepare for a visit but do not replace measurements at home.

What the assessment should establish
The visit considers the complete rail route, stair width, turns, headroom, doors and the space at both landings. It also considers the person’s seated clearance, comfortable seat height, controls and transfer routine.
The useful outcome is a proposal you can understand: recommended model, rail arrangement, selected features, preparation, installed price and next steps. Clarify any unanswered points before placing an order. A technical survey is not a substitute for an occupational therapist’s assessment where one is needed.
If you are applying for a grant, mention that first so survey and quotation arrangements can fit the council’s process. Do not schedule grant-funded work before written approval.
Choose your way to contact us
Call 01 456 8000 to speak to O’Connor Carroll, or use the callback form below. We ask for your name and number, with optional email and area details so we can respond to your enquiry. Submitting the form requests a conversation; the team confirms any appointment with you afterwards.
For an existing lift fault, use the support contact supplied with the lift or the repair contact route. A survey enquiry is not an emergency service.
Get more from the appointment
Think through an ordinary day: which rooms do you need to reach, where do you use a walking aid, and who else uses the stairs? Note doors that must remain clear and any planned flooring or building work.
Bring questions about buying, renting, servicing and warranty. There is no need to send medical records through the website; practical access needs can be discussed privately with the appropriate person.
Our survey preparation guide explains what to show and what to ask. A showroom demonstration can also help if you want to try the controls before deciding.
