Can you rent a stairlift in Dublin?
Yes—O’Connor Carroll offers stairlift rental. It can be useful when you want access between floors without committing to ownership, or when the period of need is uncertain. The available equipment still has to suit the staircase and the person using it.
A single straight flight is a different rental proposition from a bespoke curved rail. Tell us about turns, landings and any doorway at the bottom when you enquire. We will need to confirm the model and layout available for rental; a model offered for sale is not automatically available to rent.
If you have a target installation date, include it in your callback request. A request starts the assessment; it does not reserve equipment or confirm an installation date.
Ask for the full cost in writing
A rental comparison should identify any assessment, installation, deposit, recurring payment and removal charges. Clarify the minimum term, how notice works and what happens if the lift is needed for longer or less time than expected.
Check whether servicing and breakdown support are included, what damage or misuse provisions apply, and whether there are charges when the equipment is collected. These details make a monthly figure meaningful.
Calculate rental over the period you expect
Use this comparison before choosing:
Rental total = non-refundable setup + monthly charge × months + removal + any excluded support charges.
Purchase total = installed price + servicing + repairs outside cover + eventual removal.
A refundable deposit affects the cash you need at the start, but is not a final cost if it is returned in full. Keep it separate from non-refundable charges. For uncertain plans, calculate a short, medium and longer period using the same quote. Do not assume a future resale payment will reduce a purchase price.
No standard monthly tariff or minimum term is confirmed on this page. Obtain those figures in writing for the equipment offered. Our rent-or-buy worked example shows how the comparison works without presenting invented prices as an offer.
Before agreeing to a rental
Your agreement should answer what happens if you need the lift longer, return it early, move home or need a repair. Check the notice period, minimum payment commitment, access arrangements for removal, and responsibility for damage. Identify whether routine servicing, batteries and breakdown visits are included.
Do not book installation around an assumed grant or tax refund. Irish Revenue excludes rental costs from the aids-and-appliances VAT repayment scheme; see the Irish VAT guide for the distinction.
