Rathgar: Mary’s Flow X curved stairlift
Customer: Mary O’Reilly
Location: Rathgar, Dublin
Stairlift: Flow X curved model
Supplied and fitted by: O’Connor Carroll
Mary wanted to continue enjoying her home with less anxiety about the stairs. A Flow X was supplied and fitted around the staircase, giving her another way to reach the rooms upstairs. The project is about a personal outcome as well as the equipment: independence and peace of mind.
Her words capture that change: “The fear of having to climb the stairs every day was becoming bigger than the fear of having to leave my home. That’s all gone now, and you really can’t put a price on peace of mind.”
What this installation helps you visualise
The before-and-after comparison shows the same staircase before fitting and with the curved rail and chair in place. Look at the rail’s position beside the steps, the lower parking area and how the installation relates to the hall.
Flow X can rotate the seat while travelling, a feature used to manage its route through a turning staircase. That does not establish the dimensions or suitability of another house from a photograph. Your own survey needs to check both the occupied journey and the places where you get on and off.

Your installation has its own requirements
The route, seat configuration and user needs determine the recommendation. Discuss the occupied and folded footprint, access for other household members and where the lift parks. If changes to the stairs or doors are planned, raise them before measurement.
Keep the agreed quotation and layout together. They should explain the installation you are buying and provide a basis for questions before work begins.
From a project you admire to a fit for your home
Use this example to identify what you want from your own installation: easier access to a bedroom, a less worrying routine or a way to stay in familiar surroundings. You do not need to request an identical rail design.
For one unbroken flight, begin with straight stairlifts. For bends and landings, explore curved stairlifts. Then arrange the free assessment that connects a model with your staircase.
Images elsewhere on the site may illustrate manufacturer products. Only photographs expressly identified as a local project are presented as that customer’s installation.
